The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the National Fire Agency of the Ministry of Interior, in collaboration with the American Institute in Taiwan, Japan-Taiwan Exchange Association, and the Australian Office in Taipei, jointly organized the GCTF International Humanitarian Rescue Workshop from September 20 to 23, 2023. The event convened disaster prevention experts, search and rescue teams, and civil organizations from 14 countries spanning Asia, Europe, the United States, Latin America, and the Caribbean.
The primary objective of the workshop was to facilitate meaningful exchanges, with a specific focus on fostering in-depth discussions concerning the resilience of international humanitarian rescue efforts and emergency response strategies to mitigate the impact of disasters. Through a series of related activities, the event aimed to fortify international connections within disaster prevention networks, ultimately contributing to the enhancement of global disaster response capabilities and coordination.
The workshop garnered the participation of nearly 60 attendees, comprising international speakers, scholars, and diplomatic representatives from countries such as Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, and the Philippines. This diverse gathering fostered a dynamic and insightful exchange of ideas, enriching the collaborative discourse on humanitarian rescue initiatives.
