GCTF holds International Workshop on Fair and Free, but How Secure? Foreign Interference and Elections in Brussels

The Taipei Representative Office in the EU and Belgium, in collaboration with the United States Mission to the EU and the Centre for Security, Diplomacy, and Strategy (CSDS), jointly organized the GCTF Franchise Workshop on November 9, 2023. Themed "Fair and Free, but How Secure? Foreign Interference and Elections," this event marked the inaugural GCTF gathering in Brussels, serving as a platform for the exchange of insights and experiences from Taiwan, the United States, and the EU in addressing challenges related to misinformation and foreign interference in electoral processes. The workshop also delved into the exploration of effective countermeasures.

 

Distinguished speakers from diverse sectors, including Cofacts, the Taiwan FactCheck Center, and prominent European think tanks, engaged in discussions on strategies for countering misinformation through public-private partnerships and international collaboration. The event drew the active participation of approximately one hundred attendees, comprising political leaders, scholars, government officials, representatives from non-governmental organizations, and diplomatic envoys, fostering vibrant and insightful discussions.
