The Global Cooperation and Training Framework (GCTF) was jointly established by Taiwan and the United States on June 1, 2015. This year (2025) marks its tenth anniversary. On this occasion, Minister of Foreign Affairs Lin Chia-lung, American Institute in Taiwan (AIT) Director Raymond Greene, Japan-Taiwan Exchange Association Representative Kazuyuki Katayama, Australian Office Representative Robert Fergusson, and Canadian Trade Office in Taipei Executive Director Jim Nickel jointly issued a GCTF Joint Statement.
The statement reflects on the achievements accumulated over the past decade, during which the GCTF has grown from a bilateral initiative between Taiwan and the United States into a multilateral platform with the successive addition of Japan, Australia, and Canada as full partners. Since its inception, the GCTF has hosted over 80 international workshops and 24 overseas events across the globe, engaging more than 10,000 government officials and experts from 133 countries. The statement also reaffirms the shared commitment of all partners to deepen cooperation and expand the framework’s global impact in the years ahead.
