
Co-hosted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA), the American Institute in Taiwan (AIT), the Japan-Taiwan Exchange Association (JTEA), the Australian Office Taipei (AO), the Canadian Trade Office in Taipei (CTOT), and the National Science and Technology Center for Disaster Reduction (NCDR) under Taiwan’s National Science and Technology Council, the third Global Cooperation and Training Framework (GCTF) international workshop of 2025 was held from June 23 to 25 at the Howard Plaza Hotel in Taipei.
Titled “Global Public-Private Partnerships in HA/DR: Disaster Governance and Sustainable Operation,” the workshop convened over 150 participants, including representatives from governments, private-sector enterprises, and non-governmental organizations across 34 countries and regions.
Participants shared country experiences and practices in leveraging public-private partnerships to strengthen disaster preparedness and response. Topics included integrating resources, applying advanced technologies, and engaging local communities to enhance disaster risk reduction. The workshop also explored the challenges, success stories, and emerging trends in public-private collaboration within humanitarian assistance and disaster governance. Through these exchanges, the event aimed to promote inclusive, adaptive, and effective resilience-building efforts around the world.
A keynote speech was delivered by Ms. Mami Mizutori, former Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General for Disaster Risk Reduction and Head of the UN Office for Disaster Risk Reduction. Drawing on her extensive global experience, Ms. Mizutori highlighted the importance of multilateral cooperation and shared insights into advancing resilience and governance in disaster risk management.
